About This Tour

London has been the seat of British royal power for nearly a millennium, and this carefully crafted 5-day tour puts you at the very heart of that magnificent heritage. You will walk the same paths trodden by kings and queens, stand before palaces that have shaped world history, and witness ceremonies that have continued unbroken for generations.

The tour takes in the full sweep of London’s royal story. Buckingham Palace, the monarch’s principal London residence, is one of the world’s most recognisable buildings. Nearby, Kensington Palace — former home of Princess Diana and still a working royal residence — reveals the more intimate side of royal life through its beautifully restored State Apartments. The Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has served as palace, prison and fortress for over 900 years, and today houses the dazzling Crown Jewels, including the Imperial State Crown set with over 2,800 diamonds.

We conclude with a morning visit to Windsor Castle — the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle, a royal residence for over 900 years. Throughout, your expert guide will bring royal stories to life with anecdotes, history and insider knowledge. All entry tickets are included, and accommodation is in comfortable 4-star hotels in central London.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Arrive at Heathrow or Gatwick Airport where your guide will meet you for the transfer to your 4-star hotel in central London. After check-in, join us for a relaxed evening walk along The Mall — the grand ceremonial avenue that leads from Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace. As darkness falls, the illuminated Houses of Parliament and the newly restored Big Ben create a breathtaking first impression of royal London. Your guide will set the scene for the days ahead with stories of royal ceremony, protocol and a thousand years of history.

The centrepiece of Day 2 is Buckingham Palace, the monarch’s principal London residence. Admire the iconic facade and, if the State Rooms are open (typically August–September), explore the magnificent Grand Staircase, Throne Room and State Dining Room where the monarch entertains heads of state. At 11:00am, witness the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony featuring the Foot Guards in their scarlet tunics and bearskin hats. Spend the afternoon strolling through St James’s Park, along The Mall, and past Clarence House — official residence of the Prince of Wales.

Today we head to Kensington PalacePrincess Diana’s former home and still a working royal residence. Explore the beautifully restored State Apartments, the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, and the story of Queen Victoria who was born here. Stroll through Hyde Park and admire the golden Albert Memorial — Queen Victoria’s magnificent tribute to her beloved husband. Afternoon options include the world-famous luxury department store Harrods or the extraordinary South Kensington museums area, where the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum are all within easy walking distance.

The Tower of London — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is one of Britain’s most visited historic monuments. A Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) tour brings 900 years of history vividly to life: palace, prison, and place of execution. Marvel at the dazzling Crown Jewels, including the Imperial State Crown set with over 2,800 diamonds and the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross. Cross to the Tower Bridge Experience for spectacular glass-floor views high above the Thames. Enjoy lunch at the vibrant Borough Market, then explore the area around Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the South Bank.

Our final morning takes us to Windsor Castle — the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle and a royal residence for over 900 years. Explore the lavish State Apartments, the magnificent St George’s Chapel (burial place of ten monarchs, including King Henry VIII), and the beautifully landscaped grounds. Return to London in the early afternoon for free time and shopping. Round off the tour with a farewell dinner before departure transfers to Heathrow or Gatwick.

The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace takes place at 11:00am. It occurs daily from April to July and on alternate days for the rest of the year, weather permitting. The ceremony lasts approximately 45 minutes. We plan Day 2 specifically around this schedule. In the rare event that the ceremony is cancelled due to weather or a state occasion, your guide will arrange an alternative royal experience.

The Buckingham Palace State Rooms are open to the public seasonally — typically late July to late September when the Royal Family is at Balmoral. If your tour falls within this window, State Room entry is included. Outside these dates, we visit the exterior, the Royal Mews and the Queen’s Gallery. Your guide will confirm the exact programme at booking.
